The federal government has announced its readiness to pay death
benefits, promotion arrears and other outstanding debts, which are
running close to N300billion to civil servants.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Ekanem
Oyo-Ita in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, disclosed that the
FG was ready to offset the outstanding bills to Federal Civil Servants
in phases.
According to Oyo-Ita, the bills include promotion arrears,
repatriation allowance and death benefits, among others which amount to
about N293bn.
Addressing newsmen as part of the activities marking the 2016 Civil
Service Week Celebration, Oyo-Ita noted that President Muhammadu Buhari
had directed the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and the Office
of the Accountant General of the Federation to explore ways of making
the payments without delay.
