In an unexpected turn of events, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Wilie Obiano has reconciled with his Predecessor, Chief Peter Obi. It was the burial mass of Late Rev Fr Nicholas Tagbo held at the Assembly ground of the College where Mr Obiano and his predecessor, Obi (Former Anambra Governor now a member of PDP) were once students under the late Rev Father.

The event was well attended by dignitaries including the former governor, former Rivers Governor Peter Odili, former Presidential aspirant, Prof Pat Utomi, the State Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi, former Member that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Mike Ajegbo among others.

In what could be best described as a surprise to all in attendance, Governor Obiano in the most humble manner apologized to his predecessor for any wrong he may have done him, prompting the former Governor to approach him at the podium and embrace him. Together they knelt down before the altar and the Archbishop, Metropolitan, Ecclesiastical Province of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke who was also a student of the late Padre, prayed for them.

Speaking later, Governor Obiano who noted that the late Father Tagbo had taught them to love and pursue unity with one another, said it is only proper for him to apologize , although he did not know what the challenges were between them.

Governor Obiano stated that the former governor did exceptionally well while his administration lasted and he came on the platform of continuity and is taking Anambra to the next level, adding that he is committed to giving his best in the service of the State as he was taught by the late father Tagbo.

Responding, former governor, Chief Obi who pointed out that what is at stake is beyond him and his successor, said as a christian, he is under obligation to forgive whenever there is cause to. He pledged his total support to the Obiano administration in its efforts to build a better Anambra for the younger generation which he noted, the leaders of today must give account of their stewardship to tomorrow.

In his remarks, the Archbishop, Most Reverend Okeke who said Father Tagbo even in death has remained a bridge builder, thanked the duo for putting aside their differences and uniting to work for the growth of the state, describing them as true Christians.

Other Old Boys who spoke at the event, including Prof Pat Utomi, Dr peter Emetulam and Dr Mike Ejiofor took turns to eulogise the late Father Tagbo as a master moulder of men.
