The lingering leadership crisis of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) went diabolic on Monday as eggs, charms and other fetish items were deposited at the entrance of the State secretariat in Asaba by unknown persons alleged to be working for the party faction led by Senator Francis Okpozo and Hyacinth Enuha.
It would be recalled that a chieftain of the party in the State and member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Mr. Okpozo, Delta North APC leader, Mr. Enuha, and other chieftains sacked the Jones Erue-led State executive and constituted a parallel leadership to run the affairs of the party.
SaharaReporters learned that the Erue-led factional State executive had scheduled a meeting at the party's Secretariat on Monday at 10 a.m. and on arrival, they were stunned to discover that the gate to the party secretariat was locked with a padlock tied with a red-colored ribbon while a calabash containing eggs, white native chalk tied with red pieces of clothes and other charms were deposited at the entrance of the secretariat.
Some party members who witnessed the whole incident told SaharaReporters that the Erue faction defied the demonic act by destroying the charms and went ahead with the meeting as planned.
Mr. Erue's faction, however, accused members of the Okpozo-Enuha faction of placing the charms at the party secretariat in a bid to scare them away from holding their meeting.
Mr. Erue had two weeks ago accused Mr. Enuha of unleashing armed thugs on the party secretariat, thereby causing severe wounds on staffers as well as destroying property at the secretariat.
Just last week, stern-looking armed mobile policemen from the Delta State Police Command with about ten Hilux vans were seen barricading the APC secretariat.
The Okpozo-Enuha faction of the party is accusing the Erue faction of high-headedness, greediness and the hijack of the party by its 2015 governorship candidate in Delta State, Emerhor O'tega.
