Grenfell Tower Blaze: Tears, agony as families search for relatives

Desperate relatives have launched appeals to find missing residents believed to be trapped inside the horrific Grenfell Tower blaze.
Children and pensioners are among those unaccounted for after the 24-storey block in west London was engulfed by flames.
Police have confirmed at least 17 people have been killed in the blaze with the death toll expected to rise.
Families of the residents of the building have posted appeals for the whereabouts of their loved ones on social media.
London Fire Brigade said this morning that they do not expect to find anymore survivors inside the charred building.
Commissioner Dany Cotton said it would be a “miracle” to find anyone still alive.
The recovery operation is expected to take days to complete.

The burning Grenfell Tower

Hamid Ali Jafari, who is reported to have lived on the 11th floor, said his elderly father Ali had yet to be seen since he was trapped in a lift on the 10th floor of the block.
Mr Jafari, 82, was inside a lift with his family when he exited on the tenth floor because he was struggling to breathe.
He has not been seen since and cannot be found at any hospital.
His son Hamid Jafari said: “He was with my mother and sister in the lift.
“She said the lift stopped on the tenth floor and he said there was too much smoke and he couldn’t breathe and he got out of the lift and then the doors shut and it didn’t stop again till the ground floor.”
Ali’s daughter added: “My father is missing, I came down with my mother.”

Fire crews continue to deal with the smouldering Grenfell Tower

A mum and her young son are feared dead after reportedly being told to stay inside their Grenfell Tower flat as fire engulfed the building.
Zainab Dean, who lived on the 14th floor with her son Jeremiah, two, not been heard from since the blaze in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
When her brother Francis Dean, 47, spoke with her on the phone, she said she had been told to remain in her flat.
Mr Dean said: “My sister called me to say there was a fire in the tower.
“I told her to leave by the stairs but she said she had been told to stay inside her flat. That was in the early hours of today and I’ve not heard from her since. I fear the worst.”
