The homeless man who became a hero for helping the Manchester bombing victims at Ariana Grande concert has been arrested for stealing a woman's credit cards as she lay injured after the explosion.
33-year-old Chris Parker was hailed all over the world whenhe nursed a young girl who lost both her legs and cradled a seriously hurt woman in his arms after a nail bomb was detonated, killing 22 people.
Well-wishers were moved by his kind gesture and raised more than £50,000 to help Parker turn his life around as a thank you for his 'heroic' actions. But that won't be happening anymore as he has now been charged with two counts of theft for stealing from Pauline Healey.
According to reports, Mrs. Healey survived the explosion after being in a coma for days. She lost her 14-year-old granddaughter Sorrell Leczkowski to the attack, while her daughter Samantha was seriously injured.
The Hero to Zero Parker has been remanded and is expected to appear at the Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court later today.
A Police statement said: 'The charges relate to a bank card being stolen from the Manchester Arena on the evening of 22 May 2017.'
However, about 3,799 people pledged £52,589 for Parker in response to a GoFundMe campaign by Michael Johns, but he is yet to receive the money.
Following the credit card controversy hovering around Parker, Mr. Johns has posted on his fundraising page, saying 'In the event, it becomes clearly inappropriate for this money to be released to Chris, all funds will be refunded with the support of GoFundMe.'
He told MailOnline: 'I don't want to prejudice any ongoing legal process so will not be making any comment until that process is over.'
While a spokesperson for JustGiving said: 'We're monitoring the situation closely. 'We are in full control of the funds and all donors are completely protected by the GoFundMe Guarantee. Anyone concerned about their donation should contact us at gofundme.com/guarantee.'
