Eagles’ hard work will overcome Ghana- Yusuf
Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Salisu Yusuf has told NationSport that the commitment level, the determination and the zeal of his players to emerge as the winner of the ongoing WAFU Cup competition in Ghana will propel the Nigerian team to beat the host team Ghana in Sunday’s final.
Speaking with NationSport yesterday afternoon from Ghana, Yusuf lavished praises on his wards for working hard to reach the final of the competition despite ntue absence of two of his best players Stephen Odey a prolific striker formerly with MFM FC, Lagos and versatile midfielder Alhassan Muazzam Ibrahim formerly of Akwa United Football Club.
Odey last month joined the Europe legion having signed from Swiss club FC Zurich while Muazzam teamed up with Kayode Olanrewaju’s former club Austria Wien of Austria.
Eagles Coach Yusuf is convinced that his players’ hard work on and off the pitch will spur them to victory over the Black Stars on Sunday.
“We will continue to work hard and overcome Ghana. The whole group impressed us with their strong character and tactical discipline. For me I give it to the team.
” I will also confess to you that we missed our players Alhassan Ibrahim and Stephen Odey who have just joined their new clubs in Europe. The team would have been stronger if they had been around but I am highly impressed with what the Captain of the team Ikexhukwu Ezenwa and his colleagues have done so far in this competition. They have works really hard to get to this final and I am confident we will beat Ghana to bring the WAFU Cup back to Nigeria.
“Nigerians should pray for us for mother luck too. But the boys are in top spirit to get the job done. We won’t disappoint Nigerians”, Yusuf told NationSport from Cape Coast, Ghana yesterday.
