Andrea Castilla and Derek Miller
A
man who was planning to propose to his girlfriend after the Las Vegas
concert has lost her in the massacre that took place there.
According to Metro UK, the boyfriend of a woman who was tragically
shot dead during the Las Vegas shooting has revealed that he had planned
on proposing to her after the Route 91 Harvest festival.
Andrea Castilla was celebrating her 28th birthday during the
country music festival with her boyfriend Derek Miller and her family.
As the group were enjoying the music, gunman Stephen Paddock began
firing into the crowd from a nearby hotel balcony. Andrea was protecting
her sister Anthea when she was hit in the head by a bullet and
collapsed instantly.
Derek, along with Anthea’s boyfriend Shane, immediately carried
Andrea to the highway and flagged down a motorist to get her to the
hospital.
Sadly she died soon after arriving in hospital – just one of the 58
people who were killed during the massacre. Shortly after hearing the
news Derek confessed to Anthea that he was planning to propose to her
sister right after the festival.
Anthea told People: ‘They were planning on staying on until Thursday in our guest room. [Derek] told me,
“I was planning on asking her this weekend with you guys… We talked about spending the rest of our lives together”.’
Derek had even been given permission by Andrea’s father to propose
to his daughter. Andrea was described as a ‘free spirit that always had a
positive outlook on life’ on a GoFundMe page set up after her death.
