3 Side Effects Of Eating Corn Regularly

By
Corn is one of the favourite snacks for so many; it is easy to chew on the go and also satisfying. It could be roasted or boiled, depending on how you want it. Most people convert it to its flour form and use it for other delicacies such as “Banku”. However, too much intake of corn has some dangerous side effects and they are below:
Vitamins deficiency
If you consume corn in high amounts, there is a very high risk of pellagra. Pellagra is nothing but a deficiency of vitamins, especially niacin in the body. Corn is also deficient in amino acids (lysine and tryptophan) and niacin, which helps to protect the body from pellagra. If corn forms the major chunk of your diet, then make sure that you supplement your diet with vitamin-rich foods to prevent pellagra.
Increases Sugar level
Corn is not healthy for diabetic people, as it can increase their blood sugar level due to its high carbohydrate content. So people suffering from diabetes should not consume corn in large quantities.
Weight gain
Corn contains a heavy dose of sugar and carbohydrate. Taking too much corn can lead to weight gain. People on a diet should avoid consumption of corn.  Corn syrup is considered worse than sugar and is identified as a leading cause of obesity in many nations. It can also negatively impact the levels of sugar in your blood and put you at risk for type 2 diabetes. Corn syrup should ideally be avoided at any cost.
