The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ekiti chapter, on Tuesday exonerated Governor Ayodele Fayose of blame over the exclusion of retirees’ pension from being defrayed with the N9.6 billion federal government bailout to the State.
The academic body also praised Governor Fayose for giving the teachers respect and recognition, particularly the government’s sole-financing of the 2015 World Teachers Day slated for October 5, which come under the theme: Empowering Teachers-Building Sustainable Society’.
The Federal government , through the Central Bank of Nigeria released the money to Ekiti last week to pay outstanding salaries and
allowances, but the payment of gratuities and outstanding allowances of pensioners were not captured in the payment ., which had generated furore among the retirees.
