Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola
Ekiti State Government has placed three officers of the State
Forestry Department on indefinite suspension for negligence and
allegedly conniving with timber contractors to defraud the State.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Bisi Kolawole who
made this known in Ado Ekiti, on Friday explained that the suspension
of the officers that had hitherto stationed at Ilawe in Ekiti South West
Local Government Area would subsist pending the outcome of an
investigation to determine their level of culpability.
Kolawole said that the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, had
apprehended the trailer that was used to illegally transport
planks out of the State, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that a particular timber contractor that had obtained permit
to fell eight trees had unlawfully felled and processed over 20 trees into planks.
