PDP Blasts Kogi Governor, Accuses Him of Practicing Voodooism

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, has come under fire from the Peoples Democratic Party which is accusing him of causing retrogression within the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State says Governor Yahaya Bello’s approach to governance has put the state on the path of retrogression, Daily Post reports.
The spokesman of the party, Bode Ogunmola, told newsmen in Lokoja, that Bello’s 30 days in office had witnessed “knee jerk approach to governance characterized by poor policy formulations, reversals and somersaults.”
Ogunmola condemned “arbitrary blockage” of a section of the Government House road in Lokoja, and converting same to a single lane, subjecting many road users to hardships.

On demolition of some roundabouts in Lokoja, the state capital, he accused the governor of acting on advice of some ‘marabouts’,
He warned that, “Bello should focus on providing purposeful leadership and leave voodooism to occultic practitioners.”
“No state can move forward if its leaders are held back by ancient, unscientific and diabolical practices,” he further said.

PDP further lambasted Bello for reversing all appointments and promotions carried out by ex-Governor Idris Wada from January 2015, and the directive that some top civil servants proceed on compulsory leave.
Reacting, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Strategy, Abdulmalik Abdulkarim, said PDP policy somersault’s claim should be considered an act of magnanimity on the part of the governor.
He said the barricades in front of the Government House would be removed after renovation works are completed, adding that the demolition of roundabouts was to make them more attractive.
