N23​b​ scandal: Two ex-Ministers under President Jonathan admit collecting N1.1 billion (PHOTOS)

Two ministers in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan – Asabe Asmau Ahmed from Niger State and a former Minister of Mines and Steel, Musa Sada, from Katsina State – have told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, of their involvement in the alleged N23.29 billion election bribery scandal.

The campaign fund were received from the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke via Fidelity Bank ahead of last year’s presidential poll.
During investigation, Mr. Sada disclosed that he was authorised by a former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, to collect N700million on behalf of Katsina State and remit it to the state’s former Commissioner of Finance.
The commissioner was asked to keep the money for the governor, a statement by the EFCC said.
Mrs. Ahmed also stated that she kept N105 million for herself and transferred the balance to top Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, party officials in Niger State.
In a related development, a former Minister of State for Agriculture, Asabe Asmau Ahmed, from Niger State, revealed how she personally signed and collected N450 million.
