Edo APC Primary: Play by the rules, Group tells aspirants

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state, an interest group under the aegis of N ‘Edo gheria has urged aspirants to go about campaigning rather than casting aspersion on personalities of other contestants.

In a statement made available to news men in Benin by the state coordinator, Agene Patrick said rather than indulge in winning delegates, some campaign organization have resorted to maligning other aspirants.
It said while making reference to a particular publication by a campaign organisation that it would do every one in the contest good if they all go about selling their manifestos to delegates rather than fationalizing supporters of the party
It read in part “This is a height of desperation. At this time, desperate people would hang perilously to the last straw, no matter how ludicrous their views might be. Why else would Abubakar Yusuf be walking logic on its head by asserting that a victory for some aspirants would further polarize the APC.
“A man who asserts that ‘Odubu’s 16 years in government and Obaseki’s 7 years as head of the Economic Team show they have both reached their zenith in government’ admits that amateurism on the part of Ogiemwonyi is a prescription for good governance.
“Yusuf is at war with himself when he concludes, ‘Ogiemwonyi is the tested and trusted technocrat to succeed Comrade Oshiomhole’
“We marvel at the double standard that makes experience useful when it comes to Ogiemwonyi, but useless when it concerns other aspirants.
“Yusuf would do well to advise his principal to go and canvass for votes instead of seeking cheap popularity and short cuts,” It concluded.
