I want to talk about my business dwindling under the failed Buhari government but his supporters want to talk about corruption.
I can barely feed my family, pay bills, and survive… and I am not poor. What are low income families experiencing?
Corruption is not new in Nigeria. In the
70s, as petroleum minister under Muhammadu Buhari
N2.8 billion disappeared from the state-owned oil corporation, the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
During General Buhari leadership at the
defunct Petroleum Trust Fund in the 80s, he empowered his brother-in-law
as Salhijo as consultant in PTF… N25 billion was reported missing from
the PTF.
Under the late General Sani Abacha’s
dictatorship more than $4 billion took flight. Nigeria is still
receiving the looted funds back.
Under General Abubakar Abdusalam, despite his short stay, we heard over $2 billion made flight from the national treasury.
Under President Olusegun Obasanjo it was said that $20 billion was stolen in the name of power projects.
Under President Goodluck Jonathan it is now said that $2.1 billion means for arms purchases was misappropriated.
What I would like to see is for these
cases to be brought before the courts. The cases be heard and documents
presented to show facts of the corruption. The online tabloid, Sahara
Reporters is not a court of law.
There are reports that former petroleum
minister, Mrs. Dizeani Alison-Madueke returned N90 billion to the
federal treasury. I hear Jafaru Isa returned N100 million given to him
by Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), the former national security adviser, and
he promised to refund the balance of N70 million. Where is the evidence
of these returns?
I also believe that so far, we have
heard nothing. Wait until civil servants are investigated. Recall the
pension funds scam uncovered during former President Goodluck Jonathan
administration? Billions of naira were traced to the bank account of the
secretary at the pensions office.
This is it, I hate sensationalism, its masks the truth.
Let the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, show their evidence in a court of law. The media will
report evidence presented in court.
There is an urgent need to separate fact
from fiction and the current media trials are not helping. As the
Buhari government keeps on playing with the minds of Nigerian, a storm
is brewing, meanwhile.
