The Nigeria Football federation (NFF) will meet today to deliberate on the choice of coach for the Super Eagles. The federation’s technical committee recently met to select a coach from among the candidates, who applied for the post vacated by Sunday Oliseh early this year.

Today’s meeting, according to a member of the technical committee, who pleaded anonymity, is for the board to either ratify the selection or reject the candidate picked by the committee.
Among the candidates being touted as candidates for the job are Frenchman Paul Le Guen and Goran Stefanovic from Serbia.

The NFF, according to the sources, is going ahead with its decision to appoint a foreign coach despite Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung’s objections because they are convinced that Nigeria needs an expatriate for the position now. Former Enyimba Coach, Salisu Yusuf, is currently occupying the position, but on an interim basis.
Yusuf, who led Nigeria to two friendly games’ victories recently, will work as assistant to the foreign coach, who is expected to come with his own personal trainer.
But before then, Yusuf will lead a Nigeria league selected team to a series of matches in Spain that will feature top La Liga sides Valencia and Malaga in August.
The NPFL All Stars selected side will play in the Carranza and La Liga World Tournament and also against Valencia CF.
For the Carranza and LaLiga World Tournament, the NPFL All Stars will play Malaga CF on August 12 and 13, but before then, they will play their first game in Spain against Valencia CF on August 10.
Yusuf will be assisted by Wikki Tourists coach Abdu Maikaba and Imama Amapakabo from Rangers, whose teams are leading the Nigeria league.
Imama assisted Yusuf for the recent Super Eagles friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg in Europe.
