More revelations were made on Thursday where hearing resumed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the trial of former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro and 3 others in relation to the botched NIS recruitment of 2014.

Moro is being prosecuted alongside three others on an 11-count charge bordering on procurement fraud and money laundering.
The other accused persons are: one-time permanent secretary in the ministry, Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia, a deputy director in the ministry, F. O Alayebami, one Mahmood Ahmadu (at large) and the contracting firm that was given the recruitment job, Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited.
During the cross examination of the former Comptroller-General of Immigration and Principal Witness (PW1) to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. David Paradang, it was revealed that the former Immigration Boss was actually a Member of the Steering Committee which conducted the ill-fated recruitment exercise.
It was also revealed that Mr. Paradang participated in every process that led to the recruitment exercise, contrary to his earlier testimonies that he was not aware of the March 15th 2014 recruitment exercise and that he only saw the advertisement on pages of national dailies.
Under close interrogation, it was also revealed that Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia who is also standing trial was transferred from the Ministry of Interior in July 2013, two months before the Board advertised for vacancies for the said recruitment.
The court also discovered on Thursday that the 3rd Defendant, Mr. F. O. Alayebami who is also joined in the suit was just a Deputy Director in the Procurement Department of the Ministry and did not take part in any of the processes leading to the recruitment exercise.
The Counsel to Comrade Abba Moro, Mr. Paul Erokoro (SAN) had during his cross examination last session established that it was Mr. David Paradang who should be responsible for the unfortunate outcome of the recruitment exercise.
According to him, Mr. Paradang had records of stampedes where death was recorded during a botched recruitment of Junior Staff into the Immigration Service while serving as Comptroller in charge of Enugu State in 2008 and should have known how better to handle such exercise to avoid similar case.
Mr. Erokoro was particularly concerned on how Mr. Paradang, as Comptroller-General would abandon such a sensitive national assignment and chose to parley with the former Governor of Plateau State and other politicians at a birthday party in Jos while the recruitment interview was ongoing.
