Senator Ahmed
Makarfi, head of the sacked National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the factional national chairman
of the party Senator Ali Modu Sheriff vacate the party’s national
secretariat in Abuja immediately to avoid chaos.
Makarfi and his group want Sheriff and his faction to leave party secretariat Wadata Plaza.
The Punch
reports that Makarfi said Sheriff, despite being declared the authentic
national chairman of the PDP by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt,
Rivers state on February 17, must wait until the Supreme Court makes its
own pronouncement on the case.
Prince Dayo Adeyeye,
the spokesperson for the faction, stated this at a press briefing in
Abuja on Monday, February 27 while accusing the police of favouring the
former governor of Borno State in the crisis.
Adeyeye said that the Makarfi-faction want Sheriff out of the secretariat in order to avoid breakdown of law and order.
Factional national
chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
has asked the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers state to jail factional leader Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and some of his loyalists.
The Punch reports
that apart from Makarfi, Sheriff wants the trio of sacked factional
national caretaker committee secretary Senator Ben Obi and publicity
secretary Dayo Adeyeye as well as former aviation minister Femi
Fani-Kayode jailed.
