Ekiti allocation seizure: PDP accuses APC of complicity

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the brains behind Federal Government’s seizure of the January allocation to Ekiti state.

The party said it was part of APC’s anti-people strategy aimed at causing trouble before 2018 governorship election in the state.

The PDP said this had become evident with the statement issued by the Ekiti State APC “wherein the party even assumed the position of the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Finance to explain the reason behind the action of the FG at the time the Minister of Finance was assuring the state that the matter would be looked into.”
In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the party added that APC had ignorantly exposed itself with the statement to the extent that the whole world would not need any other explanation than to conclude that Nigeria had become a despotic state where fascism now thrived.
Adebayo maintained that the APC-led Federal Government had become a party of woe that would not care about the welfare of the the people it governed whenever its leadership wants to play its dirty politics, hence the decision to withhold the monthly allocation to Ekiti State as if those who would be affected were not Nigerians.
The party explained that “it’s only in a despotic state where you can think of government playing politics with the welfare of the governed, while decorating governance with blind vengeance as it operates now with the APC- led federal government”.

PDP stressed that it had been vindicated by the various alarms that it had raised in the past that the leadership of the APC had perfected plans to wreak havoc in the state through various dastardly actions that would undermine the government of the state as part of its inordinate quest to wrestle power in 2018 from the PDP.
According to the PDP, the recent gathering of leaders of APC at the house of the Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, was one of a series of meetings “where all these various nefarious plans against the interest of Ekiti people were been regularly orchestrated and hatched”.
The PDP added that the meeting was actually to celebrate the seizure of the allocation to the state.
PDP further stated that the statement issued by the APC on the withheld allocation was preconceived and even prepared before the action of the federal government because all the members of the party had the premonition of the antics of their leaders who had boasted to them at various occasions that as from January 2017 Ekiti State would not receive allocation again.

”What however will baffle many Ekiti sons and daughters is that this same set of people have gone ahead to write some foreign organizations who had signified interest to assist the state in the area of water and rural electrification to wait till 2019, in their wildest imagination that their candidate would have won 2018 governorship election.
“The Ekiti PDP condemn this wickedness masterminded by the APC to stifle life out of the people of the state because it is a known fact that whatever that affects the civil servants in the state would have bandwagon effects on the entire people being a civil service state.
”We therefore call on the Federal government to immediately release the allocations due to Ekiti State in order to safeguard democracy,” the PDP stated.
