Federal High Court judgement against me is ‘Kangaroo’ – Senator Akpan Bassey

Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Albert Bassey Akpan (PDP) has described Monday’s judgement by the Federal High Court, Uyo against him as a Kangaroo one.

Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the court’s decision, Akpan said it was a pre-election matter which would ‘travel’ to the Supreme Court, hence, there was no cause for alarm.

“I want to assure my constituents that there is no cause for alarm about yesterday’s judgement at the federal high Court in Uyo which was delivered by Justice Etim Bassey,” Akpan noted.
Akpan who was optimistic that he will reclaim his mandate, revealed that he had briefed his legal team, explaining that they have swung into action already.
DAILY POST reported on Monday that Senator Albert Bassey was asked to vacate his seat in the ruling of a pre-election before Justice Etim Bassey of the federal high Court in Uyo.
The judge also directed Akpan to refund salaries and allowances he had enjoyed in the last two years as a Senator in the National Assembly on the ground that he was occupying a stolen mandate.

Akpan has already appealed the judgement.
