Owerri—A cross section of stakeholders from the oil communities of Imo State, yesterday, vowed that they would not remain silent should the Federal Government continue to delay the appointment of Imo State Commissioner for Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
They stated this in a communique, a copy of which was made available to Vanguard in Owerri, and signed by the chairman of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas, Consultative Assembly, Mr. Jones Uzoka, and other leaders.
The communique also warned that it would be unacceptable to them that a commissioner who is not from any of the oil producing areas in the state, will be appointed to represent them at the NDDC.
The leaders also alleged that the federal and state governments had marginalized them in the development of their communities.
According to the communique, “stakeholders seriously condemned the despicable and annoying level of underdevelopment of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta.
“Stakeholders noted with concern and condemned the level of crime and youth restiveness in the two oil producing local government areas.”
