Though Governor Willie Obiano is in mourning mood for losing
her Octogenarian mother, there is a cheering news that over 10,000
people comprising of 5,000 invited guests and another 5,000 uninvited
guests would converge in Ifitedunu on 16th June to witness the
recognition on Obiano with a Chieftaincy title by traditional rulers
from 56 communities in Anambra Central senatorial zone for his
outstanding performance as the governor of the state.
The seven –member planning committee headed by the
traditional ruler of Ifite Dunu and Chairman of Anambra Hospitals
Management Board, Igwe Emeka Ilouno disclosed this to The Authority
during a press brief.
Igwe Ilouno, Eze Dunu Ifitedunu is also the Chairman of
Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Council, and chairman of planning
committee.
Other members of the committee are Igwe Patrick Okeke , Obi
of Abagana representing Njikoka local government; Eze Chidubem Iweka ,
Eze Iweka 111 of Obosi representing Idemili North; Igwe Christopher
Okpala, Eze Nnebo 111 of Akweze representing Anaocha; Igwe Engr Sunday
Okafor representing Awka South/Deputy Chairman Anambra Traditional
rulers council ; Igwe Chinedu Elibe MacAnthony Okonkwo, Ezedioramma of
Alor representing Idemili South and Igwe Christopher Nnaegbuna, Iga
11of Ebenebe representing Awka North.
Igwe Ilouno said the traditional rulers in the area decided
to honour Obiano to appreciate his good works in the areas of security,
agriculture, infrastructural development, education, as well as his
ability to pay all categories of civil servants as and when due.
Ilouno said that despite the ongoing economic recession in
the country, he has been assisting all the 179 communities in the state
with N20 million choose –your –project initiated by his administration.
He said: “When someone who has done well is appreciated, he
will do more and that is why we want to encourage him by giving him the
chieftaincy title. We in Anambra State are lucky because we are blessed
with achievable governors.
He said the chieftaincy title to Obiano has nothing to do
with politics, adding that for all the traditional rulers in all the
communities in Anambra Central to come together to honour him was an
indication of the love the people had for him.
The monarchs revealed that the N20 million the governor gave
to each of the 181 communities in the state to finance project of
choice had helped to improve various communities with roads, markets,
schools, healthcare etc.
“We also learnt that he would be giving another N20 million
soon to further boost development at the communities’ level. What a
grassroots and far reaching administration,’’ they said.
