We reported on Saturday
that some indigenes of Odo Ape in the Kogi West Senatorial District,
said they no longer want Senator Dino Melaye as their representative as
they have began the process of trying to recall him from the National
Assembly.
It was gathered that the angry constituents claimed the federal
lawmaker was not performing and that they were tired of “continuous
embarrassment” he was causing them.
A correspondent who visited some of the councils, observed that the
collection of signatures took place at Lokoja and Kogi local government
councils on Friday and continued at Ijumu, Yagba West and Yagba East on
Saturday as people came out with photocopies of their permanent voter
cards to put their names down.
Those who spoke to the correspondent said they were encouraged to
put down their names to recall Melaye from the National Assembly, adding
that they were also asked to submit photocopies of their PVCs as
evidence.
In series of Tweets posted on his timeline, the outspoken APC
politician, reacted to the development as photos emerged online, by
accusing the State Governor, Yahaya Bello of “shooting the moon and boxing the air.”
He said; "Yahaya Bello: on recall of Dino Melaye,he is shooting
the Moon and boxing the air. Spending over one billion naira tax payers
money on an unproductive venture when salaries and pensions have not
been paid is wicked.
"I will continue to defend the poor and defenseless masses of
kogi state. If I die I die. We must rescue the state. - Sen Dino Melaye"
