Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo is currently in Maiduguri, Borno
state, to launch the special intervention relief plan for internally
displaced persons (IDPs).
Osinbajo’s visit is coming hours after Boko Haram members attacked
some towns in Maiduguri, the capital city, burning houses and killing
residents.
Part of a statement posted on Twitter by the acting president's spokesman, Laolu Akande, read;
"Acting President, Osinbajo arrives Maiduguri to launch Special
Intervention Relief plan that distributes over 30G kg of grains to IDPs
in NE quarterly.
"Shehu of Borno's palace is Osinbajo's first port of call,
where he discloses it's in heart of President Buhari that FG feeds IDPs.
"Osinbajo arrives Maiduguri to launch Special Intervention
Relief plan that distributes over 30G MT of grains to IDPs in NE
quarterly."
Recall that on Wednesday, security agents engaged Boko Haram
insurgents in a gun battle that lasted hours. Though residents were
assured of safety, many of them fled their homes.
