Quit notice on Igbos: What Senate said about ultimatum issued by Northern youths

Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has condemned the three months’ ultimatum given to Igbos to leave the North, stressing that the group spoke for itself and not for the entire region.
Abduallhi, who made the remark while featuring on Channels Television called for unity, noting that the country is at a critical stage.

According to Abdullahi, “I think you can agree with me that at this critical stage in our nation’s history, that (the threat) is not what we need and I want to submit that those people who spoke in Kaduna were speaking for themselves.
“I am a northerner and I don’t think my constituents have even spoken on that issue. We are very accommodating and we have all manner of Nigerians living in the various domains that we represent.”
The Senate spokesperson admonished Nigerians against abusing privileges, saying, “I think it is time for us to say for every privilege there is some responsibility and you must be responsible for reactions.”

Recall that the spokesperson of the Northern Coalition group, Coalition of Northern Youths, CNY, Abdulaziz Suleiman, had ordered Igbos to vacate the region in three months. 
Speaking on Tuesday, Suleiman had said the entire Northern Nigeria was tired of coexisting with the Igbos and asked that, “all Igbos currently residing in any part of Northern Nigeria are hereby served notice to relocate within three months and all northerners residing in the East are advised likewise.

“The persistence for the actualization of Biafra by the unruly Igbo of South-Eastern Nigeria has lately assumed another alarming twist which involved the forceful lockdown of activities and denial of other people’s right to free movement in the South-East by the rebel Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its overt and covert sponsors.”
