The Rivers state Police Command has confirmed
the rescue of nine passengers who were abducted almost two weeks ago on
transit from Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local government area of Rivers state to
Port Harcourt.
Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni said the victims were rescued through intelligence information.
Omoni said, Operatives have launched a serious manhunt for the kidnappers after successfully dislodging them from their den.
The statement says, “Men of the Egbeda Divisional Anti- Crime patrol, through credible intelligence stormed a big forest at Egbeda where kidnappers were keeping 9 passengers who were abducted on the 14/6/2017 in a Sienna bus coming from Omoku to Port Harcourt.
“The operatives stormed the forest and fired some shorts of tear gas
in the forest where the kidnappers were choked and confused thereby
abandoning the victims who were rescued unhurt.
“The kidnappers were dislodged and a serious manhunt has been launched.
“Meanwhile the rescued victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families.”
