Ambode: Lagos governor upgrades land registry.
The Lagos state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has signed 11,034 land titles in two years and vowed to eliminate land grabbing in Lagos.
The governor signed 4,602 Certificates of Occupancy (CofO), 6,118 Governor’s Consent and 314 Deemed Grant Consent.
The governor released the figures on Thursday while commissioning the newly upgraded and redesigned Lands Registry.
The governor who is bringing about land revolution said “we will streamline the process of registering title’’.
Ambode took to his twitter handle to reel out the plan the government has for land in the cosmopolitan city.
“Today, we have moved one step closer to the ideal situation in land administration and management in Lagos State,’’ he tweeted.
“The redesigned layout of the registry makes it more service friendly to all who have land transactions to process.
“This is another initiative to improve the ease of doing business in Lagos
“The whole essence of the land reforms is to unleash private enterprise as land is a very vital asset with which people can access capital,’’ the governor tweeted.
The essence of the reform, he explained was to increase economic activity in our State, create jobs and contributing to our “growing GDP’’.
Gov. Ambode said that massive reforms have been put in place to reposition land administration and enhance the ease of doing business
The Gov. pledged to continue to fine-tune the processes of land administration to yield positive dividends for the people
The Gov. said that one of the major challenges hampering the ease of doing business was the bottleneck in land administration.
