APC is like ‘the Egyptians’ – Abba Moro

Immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has called on foundation members of the Peoples Democratic Party not to be perturbed by the defection of some key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Comrade Moro, in a statement issued on Friday, cautioned members of the party who are decamping that the ‘APC is like the Egyptians’ who you see today but will never see again.

He said their defection had confirmed what the PDP had all along suspected that many of its members betrayed the Party in the 2015 general elections by working for the opposition APC.
According to Moro, the decampees had extracted potential benefits for themselves and members of their immediate family and had abandoned the people.
Moro said, “they may be giving the nebulos excuse that the PDP is in crisis within itself but crisis is normal in political party management, especially if a major political party looses a major election as it happened in the 2015 general election.”

Referring them to the words of Martin Luther King Junior, Moro said, “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenges, controversy and conflict.”
Moro added that the founding fathers of the PDP came together to form a party for the common purpose of delivering people-driven governance but the present case is that people are hungry, public servants have become permanent farmers of cassava and children are out of school because their parents cannot afford school fees as a result of non-payment of salaries and allowances by the APC-led government.
He said the, “people are searching for an alternative PDP government to salvage the mess of the APC and this is the time to differentiate between genuine politicians committed to the people and food-is-ready politicians who always want to be in government.”
