FRSC to commence psychiatric test on Anambra traffic offenders

The Federal Road Safety Commission in Anambra State says it will soon commence an Emotional Psychological Evaluation, EPE, for all offenders of traffic rules and regulations on the high way.
The sector commander, Mr Sunday Ajayi made this known while speaking with journalists in Awka, Monday.

He said task of ensuring that the roads especially the highways were accident free was a major challenge facing both government and motorists in nigeria, but said that the commission is working hard to minimize it.
“Despite all measures put in place by the FRSC to reduce road crash to the bearest minimum, some motorists have continued to endanger their lives and that of other road users by flouting rules guiding the roads.
“This prompted the road safety command in Anambra State to come up with an Emotional and Psychological testing of such motorists to ascertain their state of mind”, he said.

Mr Ajayi said any driver who contravened traffic laws would be arrested and refered to a psychiatric centre where professionals will ascertain the person’s emotional and psychological condition.
The sector commander explained that after impounding the vehicle, the driver will also be responsible for the payment of all the evaluation that would be conducted on him or her.
Speaking on preparations made to have a traffic free holiday, Mr Ajayi said officers had been positioned at strategic locations on the road where bottleneck is usually experienced.

He said in addition, towing trucks and ambulances have also been provided in case of any road mishap while praying that none would occur during the holiday period.
The FRSC commander who commended the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency(ATMA) for collaborating to ensure free flow of human and vehicular movement called on stakeholders, motorists as well as pedestrians to assist by adhering to traffic rules and regulations in their best interests.‎
