Anambra election: Delay in announcement of result irks indigenes
The long delay in the announcement of Saturday’s governorship election results is now a source of worry for most Anambra people.
Journalists, observers and party agents stayed up all night expecting.
As at 8:40am on Sunday, results were still being awaited .
The election which was largely peaceful and transparent, despite allegation of vote buying, ended as early as 4pm on Saturday but no results were turned in to the INEC headquarters all through the night.
Feelers from the field had indicated that APGA candidate, Chief Willie Obiano was in the lead, but the party through the SA to the governor on social media raised alarm that the results were being manipulated in favour of APC.
Some Anambra indigenes who spoke at INEC headquarters expressed fear over the delay, insisting that the result must be a reflection of what transpired during the election.
