U.S White House Placed on Lockdown, One Person Detained by Secret Service

A lockdown at the White House was declared and subsequently lifted on Friday morning after Secret Service hauled one person into custody for 'suspicious activity.

The White House grounds were locked down Friday related to the arrest of one person for making verbal threats near the complex, the Secret Service said.

The person was not immediately identified, but the incident occurred near the time President Trump was departing for a 12-day trip to Asia.

Responding to a report of "suspicious activity," the Secret Service closed access to the White House's north fence-line, across from Lafayette Park.

The person did not gain access to the White House grounds, the agency said.
