THE
Federal Government has promised to establish eight radiotherapy centres
and chemotherapy facilities for the treatment of cancer, across the six
geo-political zones in 2018.
The Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, who disclosed this in
Abuja, at the flag- off of radiotherapy treatment, at the National
hospital, explained that provisions have been made in the 2018
appropriation bill for the funding of the initiative.
“I am particularly happy to say that radiotherapy treatment would now
be available to Nigerians both in National Hospital, Abuja and
University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital. Let me use this opportunity to
inform Nigerians that a second machine of the same type and model would
be available in the next three months.”
