Photos have emerged online showing a private jet which skidded off the runway at the Abuja airport and caused the authorities to shutdown operations of the airport. 

Hundreds of passengers are currently stranded at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on account of a chartered aircraft which broke down on the runway.

 

The private aircraft broke down at about 2:00pm at the boarding gate.

 

 

The development forced airplanes that were due for landing to return to where they departed from and prevented take-off from Abuja.

 

A boarding gate staff disclosed to a correspondent that no announcement of the development has been made to prevent passengers from protesting, as no solution has been found to move the aircraft off the runway.
