Amazon Boss To Charge $200,000 For Commercial Flights To Space

Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has announced that its company’s commercial flights to space will be possible next year. The company’s started developing space vehicles for commercial purpose with the launch of its Blue Origin brand. Jeff Bezos has announced that the company plans to start test flights with passengers on-board its New Shepard space vehicle soon.

Commercial flights to space will began in 2019 and according to sources, tickets will cost between $200,000 and $300,000. The company’s New Shepard vehicle is designed to autonomously fly six passengers more than 62 miles (100 km) above Earth into suborbital space. The height is enough to experience a few minutes of weightlessness and see the curvature of the planet before the pressurized capsule returns to earth under parachutes. The capsule consists of six observation windows where passengers can catch a glimpse of the earth from space.

Already, the Blue Origin New Shepard has completed eight test flights from its launch pad in Texas. Two of these flights included a test dummy called Mannequin Skywalker.
Also in the commercial race to space, is Tesla boss, Elon Musk, who plans is to colonize the Mars. Elon plans to offer point-to-point travel on Earth by blasting passengers into orbit and putting any city within an hour’s flight of anywhere else.
