The authority of the Polytechnic Ibadan organised the massive
destruction of mobile phones seized from students in examination halls.
The event was done in public with officials of the school pouring
several phones in a pit, pouring fuel and then setting them on fire.
The school management frowns at the utilization of mobile phones in
examination situations to forestall cheating. Erring students normally
have their phones seized by the examiners and they are handed over to
the school authority in permanent forfeiture.
Social media users have been critical about the action of the
school management as some feel a fine or another subtle penalty could
have been imposed on the defaulters.
