Nigerians have reacted as Super Eagles defeated Tunisia 1-0 on
Wednesday, to win bronze in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations third-place
playoff.
The Super Eagles missed the chance to play in the final, after they
were beaten 2-1 by Algeria, with Riyad Mahrez smashing in the winner
with the last kick.
However, Odion Ighalo’s early goal, ensured Gernot Rohr’s men clinched bronze medal.
The victory means Nigeria has never lost a third-place fixture in
the history of the AFCON, winning all eight they have featured in.
The three-time champions had already won bronze seven times before, three more than Ivory Coast in second place with four.
Nigerians took to social media applauding and celebrating Super Eagles for winning the bronze.
