Achimugu’s widow reacts to publication error over husband’s death

Widow of former Managing Director, Petroleum Product Monitoring Corporation, Aisha Suleiman Achimugu has drawn The Guardian Newspaper's attention to its headline of March 23, wherein her name was erroneously used in place of her late husband.
The report titled 'Former MD of PPMC Aisha Suleiman Achimugu dies of Coronavirus' has been trending online.
The widow in a statement issued Friday in Abuja, however, stressed that it was her husband, Suleiman Achimugu, who served as the M.D, PPMC and not herself, and that it was her husband who died on March 22 and not herself as captured in the headline.

The deceased family had earlier announced that he was in self-isolation upon testing positive to the virus following his return from the UK, where he had gone for medical Checkup. According to the family spokesman, the late Achimugu personally called the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control NCDC on experiencing some discomfort that related to COVID-19.
Mrs. Achimugu, however, expressed dismay on reading her name in the daily as former PPMC boss who died of Coronavirus. She reiterated that so far, she and her children have been in sound health "to the glory of Almighty Allah since they embarked on self-isolation and that none of them has shown any sign of ailment or any symptom of COVID-19."
She, therefore, urged the medium to do well by pulling down the online version or effect necessary correction as a way of mitigating damages that the earlier report might have done to her name and family. She also asked the general public to allow her to mourn her husband in peace, "It is a hard time but we take solace in the almighty Allah and pray that Allah grants his Soul aljanah Firdausi", she stated.
