The mother of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur, Afeni Shakur, has died at the age of 69.

Afeni Shakur Davis, mother of legendary rapper, Tupac Amaru Shakur has died at the age of 69, according to new reports.
The news that the philanthropist, political activist and American businesswoman passed at her home on Monday night was confirmed by Marin County Sheriff’s Department in California to Channel 2 Action News.

The actual cause of her death has yet to be ascertained, but it is being reported she suffered a possible cardiac arrest.
Afeni, born Alice Faye Williams in 1947, was the subject of one of Tupac’s most iconic songs ‘Dear Mama’ and oversaw his posthumous legacy.
She was a member of the Black Panthers and served 11 months in prison, during which time she was pregnant with the future rap star.
She served as her own defense attorney and was acquitted of multiple counts, earning release from prison shortly before Tupac’s birth in June 1971.
One year after his shooting death in 1996, she founded the Tupac Amarachi Shakur Foundation, which champions youth arts programs, and oversaw his unreleased material.
A biopic on the late rapper, ‘All Eyes On Me’ is currently being filmed, with Danai Gurira reportedly playing Afeni in the film.
