BREAKING: Niger Delta Avengers Blow Up 2 Of Chevron’s ‘Highest Producing’ Wells

The Niger Delta Avengers have claimed responsibility for attacks on two of Chevron Nigeria Limited’s oil wells – RMP 24 and RMP 23 – which occurred at 3.44am on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, according to the group.

In a set of tweets, the new militant group mocked the Nigerian military and says that the Nigerian Army lies about its operations against the group.

“With the heavy presence of 100 Gunboats, 4 Warships and Jet Bombers, Niger Delta Avengers blew up Chevron Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP 24 at 3:44am this morning,” the statement says.

“This is to show the whole world that Nigerian military is good in harassing innocent civilians. RMP 24 and RMP 23 are Chevron Swamp Highest producing Wells. #Boom,” the group tweeted.

Who are the Niger Delta Avengers

Niger Delta Avengers is a new militancy group that is operating in the oil-rich region of Southern Nigeria.

The militants say they are waging a war for a free Niger Delta Republic in what it tags, Operation Red Economy, with a view of halting crude oil production in Nigeria to force the government to grant the group’s demands.

The Niger Delta Avengers has presented an 11-point demand to President Muhammadu Buhari and the first is the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference. [Download Conference report HERE.]
